My training and work as a psychotherapist made me aware of significant similarities between these two professions - they are both concerned with providing a safe, nurturing and caring environment which promotes personal growth. Teaching and psychotherapy are about 'empowering' people, so that they can feel in control of their lives and have the freedom to make 'choices'. This has been, and continues to be, an important focus of my work. As well as my private practice I have several years experience as a voluntary bereavement counsellor, and I continue to maintain a commitment to this work. I regard ongoing training as essential to my personal and professional development and regularly attend Workshops and Training Courses. Following further specialist training in 2006, I worked as a bereavement counsellor with children. I am currently studying for an MA in Existential Psychotherapy. Professional Membership I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy - MBACP (Accred.). As a Member of BACP I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure therein. [Visit: www.bacp.co.uk] I have membership of the UK Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners (UKAHPP). As an Associate Member I am bound by its Code of Ethical Principles and Code of Practice. [Visit: www.ahpp.org] |
